Its almost Christmas…

…and as we barrel headlong towards the silliest of seasons it’s a good time to sit back and look at what a crazy old year its been ,  say thanks to a few of the great and the good and to dream of what exciting challenges the new year holds.

It was a fabulous year. Starting with a trip across the ditch to help out CJZ in Sydney with deadline deliveries on ‘Bondi Rescue’ . Great to be back with Ash and his team.

We then headed back to New Zealand and up to Whangaparaoa (just north of Auckland and my old stomping ground for the first ten years of my life) where we started assembling a comedy family festive film called ‘Kiwi Christmas’ which was directed by Tony Simpson (Kiwi Flyer) and produced by Tim Sanders (Lord of the Rings, Whale Rider). Holed up for six weeks we assembled the film before decamping to fine cut in Governors Bay. As there was a limited budget the VFX supervision, assist editing, extra shooting, audio, lighting, gaffa and casting was left up to us in order to complete the film for delivery. Cutting throughout winter, my converted garage studio proved to be up to the task. We delivered  to Images and Sound and to Chris Sinclair at Boom Post for foley, VFX, sound editing, dub, picture conform and grade.

Kiwi Christmas is currently in Cinemas New Zealand wide now. Global release happens December 2018.

At the end of the edit we flew up to Wellington and directed, shot and cut a music video for the soundtrack to Kiwi Christmas for the Tom McLeod composed ‘You Got My Love’ featuring Barnaby Weir (Black Seeds).

In between all this we managed to fit in ‘Old Mout: The Kiwi Wild Show’. A little job for London agencies Cow PR and St Lukes, and Wanaka, NZ based production gurus Two Bearded Men. We joined the crew and creatives and cut as they shot. Sending two featurettes back to the UK for online, grade and mix. These wonderful and quirky segments were then stitched into the studio show. What a fab cast and crew.

So its thanks to everyone for a great year. Next year? We’re full on into shooting our exciting and provocative documentary ‘Aliens, Drugs and Music’. Its rock and roll time. Never a dull moment. Never a dull year. Onwards.
